Atlantic City, NJ (May 1, 2017) – Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas announced today the appointment of Miss America 2017, Savvy Shields, as the Honorary Chair and Statewide Ambassador of Healthy Active Arkansas, an initiative that is helping to provide a framework for Arkansans to lead healthier lifestyles and ultimately increase the number of people at a healthy weight.
“Savvy will do an outstanding job as the Honorary Chair and Statewide Ambassador of Healthy Active Arkansas,” said Gov. Hutchinson. “The important health care goals of this initiative can only be made possible by the joint effort of communities and individuals statewide, and I am pleased that our very own Miss America 2017 is passionate about making a difference to encourage healthy lifestyles in our state. “
In March 2017, Savvy visited the Arkansas State Capitol and had the opportunity to meet with Gov. Hutchinson to discuss her platform, “Eat Better, Live Better,” which aims to encourage everyone to be proactive in choosing a healthier and happier way of life.
The Healthy Active Arkansas initiative is organized by a Board of Directors, 9 Priority Teams, and hundreds of volunteers. Savvy is thrilled to utilize her knowledge, experience, and personal platform to support this initiative in her home state.
“I am ecstatic to be named the Honorary Chair for the Healthy Active Arkansas initiative,” said Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017. “Health is such an important part of my life, and it is an honor to be able to use my platform, “Eat Better, Live Better,” to help advocate for real change in my home state.”
